What is Dead In The Sea?

Quite simply it's my personal domain name. The original idea was to register a domain name for me to use as a permanent email address. More recently I have felt inclined to use a bit of my free web space and have constructed this here website type thingy!

Why Dead In The Sea?

Inspite of the fact that the domain name 'Mortimer' had already been taken, I didn't really want a domain name that was quite so obvious! So I started to think about alternatives.

I knew that my family name 'Mortimer' came to England from France (possibly around the time of William The Conqueror). I also believed that Mortimer was a corruption of the French 'mort y mer' meaning roughly 'dead in the sea' - bingo!
